Hey friend,
Life can feel like an endless waiting game, can’t it? You’re in the middle of it right now—juggling work stress, family worries, and maybe a nagging health concern. Late at night, when the world is quiet, that overwhelming sense of impatience can creep in. You just want things to change. Fast.
But here’s a thought that changed my perspective:
“But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” — Romans 8:25, NIV
Here’s What I’ve Learned
Look, waiting isn’t easy. It never has been. But this verse reminds me that waiting is a part of the hope journey. When we feel helpless, it’s easy to forget that patience is a virtue, a vital, sometimes gut-punching part of faith. Waiting might feel like a burden, but honestly, it’s also an opportunity for growth. God uses those waiting periods to mold us into who we’re meant to be.
I can remember countless moments when patience felt like a four-letter word. Times when I thought my prayers were falling on deaf ears, or when I wrestled with why things just weren’t happening as I hoped. Each time, just waiting for answers was hard. But each time, it also drew me closer to understanding that God has a purpose even in our restlessness.
I Remember When…
I remember a time last year when I was waiting for some big news that could change my career. Days turned into weeks, and the uncertainty gnawed at me. I’d wake up in the mornings feeling like I was on a tightrope—one wrong move, and I’d spiral into anxiety. I remember one night, lying in bed, staring at the ceiling, thinking, *What’s taking so long?*
In that moment, I almost felt a whisper in my heart: “Trust the timing.” Those words echoed with every ounce of truth. Eventually though, I got the news. It was good, but the waiting had taught me so much. My patience was tested, and oh, how I wished I could’ve fast-forwarded to the answer. But looking back, I can see God was right there in the waiting with me.
What Helped Me
What helped me was:
– Keeping a journal. Writing my thoughts and prayers helped me process my feelings and notice who God was being for me in the silence.
– Spending time in nature. Just stepping outside reminded me of God’s creation and timing. It helped ground me.
– Seeking community. Talking to friends, sharing my fears and frustrations, and even laughing about the ridiculousness of waiting helped me feel less alone.
– Praying for patience. Honestly. Asking God to help me in my time of waiting was humbling but necessary.
Can I Pray for You?
I’d love to pray for you as you navigate your own waiting game. Father, I lift up my friend who feels overwhelmed by waiting. Please grant them peace in their heart and a reminder that you are with them in this time. Help them to lean into patience, trusting in your perfect timing. Amen.
With love and hope,
